Stila In The Light Palette - Review

Hi lovelies! I got this palette as a Christmas present so I've had it for a while now and I thought it was about time I reviewed it on my blog! I asked for this palette for Christmas as I thought it look beautiful and I would definitely get lots of wear out of it. I have the Urban Decay Naked palette which I love! But I still thought this would be a good palette to get as the Stila In The Light Palette has more matte shades which I really like, it contains four matte eyeshadows and six shimmer so a nice mix! It retails for £25 which I think is quite good value for money considering you get 10 eyeshadows and a smudge stick waterproof eyeliner which on its own costs £13.

It comes with gorgeous shades including one of Stila's most famous eyeshadows 'Kitten' which is one of my favourite shades from this pallete, I'm a bit annoyed as on the swatches above as it really doesn't do 'Kitten' justice as it is a really beautiful shade and more pigmented than the swatch shows. All of the shades are really wearable if you like warm toned neutrals then you'll probably love this palette! The pigmentation is great on all shadows,  they last all day on the lids and I haven't experienced any creasing either. One gripe I do have about this pallet is the texture of the eyeshadows they are very soft and buttery which is nice! But I would say they are a little bit too soft as they are quite powdery, and I do find they give fallout underneath the eye so I just go a little careful when applying. It doesn't bother me too much as I really like the shades and the pigmentation of the eyeshadows. The eyeliner that it comes with is a nice dark matte brown, very soft in texture and long lasting.

Overall I really like this palette, I think it has lovely shades for a everyday look and there some darker shades in there for a more dramatic nighttime look. I also love that it has matte shades as well as shimmer. If your looking for a nice neutral palette then I would recommend it! Let me know if you have this palette and what you think?

NARS Sheer Glow Foundation - Review

Hi ladies! A few weeks ago now I purchased a foundation that has been on my 'wishlist' for quite sometime NARS Sheer Glow Foundation - I  haven't been living under a rock so obviously I had heard tons of great things about this foundation and so I wanted to try it for myself and see what all the fuss was about! I got the shade Punjab which is a yellow toned medium shade, equivalent to a NC30 in MAC foundations.

When I first tried this foundation I did not like it! It didn't look nice on my skin at all!  I couldn't get my head around why so many people rave about it and I came to the conclusion that it just wasn't working on my skin type which at the time was very dehydrated and quite dry - entirely my fault as I had been slacking on the ol' skin care front. So I stopped wearing it for a while and instead used my current favourite Laura Mercier Silk Creme (Review coming soon) which worked much better on my dehydrated skin, and in the meantime I stepped up my skincare game, applied lots of hydrating/nourishing products and got my skin back to its more normal state which is less dry/dehydrated and more normal.

Then I tried again with NARS Sheer Glow and as I thought it worked much better on my less dehydrated skin, before it just made my skin look bad which is definitely not what anyone wants from a foundation, but now I like it a lot more than when I initially tried it.

NARS Sheer Glow is described as 'A glowing, satin-finish foundation with sheer and buildable coverage that immaculately evens skin tone. Replete with skincare benefits and the NARS complexion brightening formula' In my opinion it does have a slight satin finish but it is more on the matte side - which is one of the reasons I don't love it as I prefer a more dewy foundation. I would say the coverage is more medium/buildable than sheer, I like the coverage it gives and it lasts well on my skin throughout the day. It is described for normal to dry skin types and is also described as hydrating, which was why I was surprised that it did not work well at all when my skin was dry/dehydrated.

So other than the finish which is a little to matte for my liking, overall I do like this foundation but I'm not 'in love' with it! It has good coverage and longevity, looks nice on the skin. But I wouldn't recommend it if your skin is particularly dry/dehydrated.

Have you tired this foundation? What did you think?

Origins Drink Up Intensive Overnight Mask - Review

I've been using this product for a few months now, I purchased it after hearing lots of rave reviews on different blogs! Origins Drink Up Intensive Overnight Mask is designed for dry/dehydrated skin, my skin is both of those types but more on the dehydrated side so I couldn't wait to try this product and see if it would help my skin... which it definitely has!
You can use this twice a week or as desired, I usually use it twice a week. Apply a thick layer of this as your last step in your skincare routine before you go to bed and leave it on overnight. In the morning the mask has completely sunk into the skin, or rather your skin has 'drunk it up' Basically this product is a intense moisture replacement mask designed to deeply quench skins thirst, making skin smoother and more hydrated. It is a thick cream consistency with a lovely fruity apricot scent.
I love using this at night! In the morning my skin is a lot smoother and hydrated. I find the more I use this the softer and more hydrated my skin gets. I would definitely recommend this product especially if your skin is dehydrated as I think this mask works best at hydrating the skin. It is £20 for 100ml which I think is a pretty good price for a high quality product which gives great results, also Origins have free delivery at the moment!
Have you tried this mask? What did you think?

Nars 'Luster' Blush Review

Hi Ladies! I recently had a email come through saying I had £5 worth of points on my SpaceNK card, I love the SpaceNK card although my bank balance probably doesn't! Anyway of course I thought I would indulge and purchase a blush that has been on my never ending 'wish list' for quite some time. Nars blush in 'Luster' is a gorgeous tangerine/apricot with golden orange shimmer I don't find the shimmer to heavy it has more of a sheen than heavy shimmer. The texture is silky and soft, because of the silky texture it is easy to apply and blends out nicely on the cheeks. It isn't crazy pigmented like some of Nars blushes, this one can be applied more sheer or be built up and I think it would suit many skin tones from pale to deeper complexions. I love this blush and can see myself getting a lot of wear out of it in the summer as I think it is a perfect summery blush!

Let me know if you have tried this blush and what you think? or if you have any other recommendations for Nars blushes?  I would love to know what they are!

Step By Step: Neutral Smokey Eye Look!

Hi Ladies! The other day I was doing my make-up and I thought why not do a blog post on it! So I took a few step by step pictures to show how I did my eye make-up using the Wet 'n Wild 'Comfort Zone' palette, which was in my recent New York Haul post. I went for a neutral smokey eye just using the four shades on the left of the palette, as you can see the shades are named as to wear to put them i.e 'browbone, eyelid...' You don't have to follow the instructions but I basically did without realising!
 Step 1
I took the brow bone shade on a MAC 217 and applied this to my inner tearduct area and towards the middle of my eyelid and  then applied some to my Browbone.

Step 2
I then took the 'Eyelid' shade and applied this with the same 217 brush to the middle of my eyelid.
Step 3
Then I applied the 'Crease' shade with a Real Techniques 'Base Shadow Brush' to the outter part of my eye and blended through the crease bringing it quite far in towards the inner part of my eye. Then I took a bigger fluffy blending brush - Mac 224 to really blend the edges and give it a softer look.
Step 4
I then took the darkest shade in the palette 'Definer' and applied this with a Mac 217 to the outer V and blended through the crease, I didn't take it as far through the crease as the 'Crease' colour just concentrated more on the outer V to deepen up the colour a little bit.
Step 5
With a Mac 266 brush I applied the 'Eyelid' shade on my lower lash line mainly in the centre and towards the tear duct, and the 'Crease' shade to the outer part of my lash line, the the 'Definer' shade on top of the 'Crease' colour but closer to the lash line, then blend.
Step 6
Then using a Mac 219 brush I applied the 'Browbone' shade to the inner tear duct area to highlight.
Step 7
Then I applied a thin line of Bobbi Brown's gel eyeliner in 'Black Ink' on my upper lashline, I didn't winged it out I just wanted to define my lash line a little.
Step 8
I then applied the Covergirl clump crusher mascara to my lashes and lined my waterline with Rimmel's Scandaleyes eye pencil in 'Nude'
Finished Look

Top row: Natural light, Bottom row: Direct Sunlight
So there you have it! I hope you enjoyed this post! I would love to know what you think!
