Big Beauty Haul! ft MAC, Hourglass, Bobbi Brown, Laura Mercier, Clarins

So I have done little bit of beauty shopping lately, I recently placed an order on Debenhams and SpaceNK so I thought it would be fun to show you what I got as I'm a bit nosey so I love these types of posts myself! Hope you enjoy!

Hourglass Ambient Lighting Blush 'Diffused Heat'
I have been wanting to try these blushes for a long time, when they first came out I thought they were gorgeous but I restrained myself from purchasing so I could read some reviews and see if they were worth the price tag. Every review I have seen has been positive so I finally picked one up in the shade 'Diffused Heat' which is a coral shade with the cream marble effect running through it. When I first saw this blush I thought it was beautiful but quite shimmery in the pan but on the cheeks I don't find it looks too much at all, gives more of a glow to the cheeks. The main thing I was so impressed with is the texture of these blushes they are just perfect, so smooth and they glide onto the cheeks and apply evenly like no other blush I have tried, the pigmentation is just enough, they aren't to sheer but they aren't overly pigmented either.

Laura Mercier Shimmer Bloc 'Peach Mosaic'
This is similar to the Bobbi Brown Shimmer Bricks, it can be used as a highlighter which is what I purchased it for, as a blush, or eyeshadow. It comes with four shades, a creamy white, peach, bronze and a peachy pink. When swirled together you get a peachy highlight shade which is beautiful. As there is different shades you can choose what you want, so if you want more of a pale pink highlight - use the white and peachy pink shade or if you want a more peachy highlight - use the peach and bronze shade. The product is quite pigmented, so I like to use a light hand when using it as a highlight. I think the shade 'Peach Mosaic' is best for medium to dark skin tones.

MAC Studio Fix Powder Foundation NC30
I decided to get this as I wanted a setting powder but one that provides coverage, this is a powder foundation but it can also be used as a setting powder. I haven't tried this much yet but from first impressions I like it, it sets my make-up, it's not too matte or powdery looking and it provides a little bit of coverage when used lightly to set my foundation.

Bobbi Brown Bronzing Powder 'Golden Light'
I wanted a new bronzer and thought I would try this one from Bobbi Brown, the shade 'Golden Light'  is a good shade for pale to medium skin tones (if you have very pale skin this would be probably be too dark). It is a matte bronzer which I like and the shade looks nice as it isn't too orange or too red or brown. I haven't tried it out yet but I think it will be perfect for contouring.

Bobbi Brown Corrector 'Light Bisque'
This is a repurchase for me and one of my holy grail products, it's a corrector so it helps to correct dark circles under your eyes and the you apply a concealer on top, I notice a real difference when using this and highly recommend it if you have dark circles.

Clarins Radiance-Plus Golden Glow Booster
I love the Clarins Liquid Bronze Self Tanner, it's the best face tan I have tried so when I saw Clarins had came out with this new face tanner I had to try it! It comes in a little dropper bottle and you drop a few drops into your daily moisturiser, you can use less or more drops depending on the tan you want. I really like the idea of this and can't wait to try it!

Mac Lipstick 'Japanese Maple'
Mac describe this shade as a 'frosted light beige' with a creemsheen texture. Part of the Creemsheen + Pearl collection, I'm usually not a fan of frost lipsticks but I don't find this one to be too frosty, it has more of a glossy finish. The coverage is good and with a few swipes you can get a opaque application. The shade is a lovely everyday nude and easy to wear.

Mac Lipstick 'Coral Bliss'
Also part of the Creemsheen + Pearl collection, it is described as a 'frosted light coral' but I don't see any frost to this shade, it doesn't have any shimmer instead it has a creamy glossy finish and the pigmentation is also good and it is such a pretty coral.

Brand Focus: Anastasia Beverly Hills (Brows)

Anastasia Brow Products

Anastasia Beverly Hills is a brand that I discovered around a year ago, since then her brow range has grown and her brow products have become cult products, her brand defiantly dominates the brow department in my opinion and for good reason! So today I'm going to be running through all the brow products I have tried from the range and give you a little run down on all of them. Of course Anastasia Beverly Hills do more than just amazing brow products, the lavish palette is amazing and I need to get my hands on the contour kit!
Anastasia Brow Wiz - Soft Brown
I was using a Mac brow pencil before this but once I tired the Brow Wiz I was converted and I have been using it ever since. On one end you have the product that is retractable so you can roll up to get the product and roll down which is handy if you accidental roll up too much product. The tip is a very fine nip so it's easy to get really precise. The formula isn't too soft that it breaks off or too hard that you have to drag on your eyebrow, it's the perfect texture and lasts all day. On the other end you have a spolie which is so handy, it makes it so easy to quickly flip the product around and brush through your brows as you apply product. The spolie is a perfect size, it isn't too big so it doesn't touch the skin around your eyebrow.  Available in 9 shades.

Anastasia Brow Powder Duo - Medium Brown
Again I was using a Mac eyeshadow before this which worked well, but the Brow Powder Duo is so much better! I find the texture is better suited as it is specifically designed for brows. The powders are smooth not powdery, with the right amount of pigment. It comes with two shades which is great, a lighter shade that I use at the front of my brow to give a soft look and the darker shade I use on the end of my brow as this is where you want your brow to be the most defined. I usually use the powder along with the 'Brow Wiz' (brow wiz to line the bottom of my brow then the powder to fill in) Available in 10 shades.

Anastasia Dipbrow Pomade - Blonde
The newest addition to the Anastasia brow range, the Anastasia Dipbrow Pomade has been getting a lot of hype recently but I think it's deserved. I did a post about this not too long ago with a tutorial and a before and after photo so check that out here. It has a smooth formula that glides on, lasts all day and is waterproof. A little tip - use the smallest amount with this, dab off excess product on the back of your hand as you really do not need a lot go product. You can get a dramatic brow look with this but you can also get a natural look if you use a light hand. It's been out of stock for a while but now it's finally back on CultBeauty! Available in 5 shades.

Anastasia Dipbrow Pomade £15 - Cultbeauty

Anastasia Brow Brush 12
If your looking for a brush to use with the Dipbrow Pomade, this is a good one! Synthetic brush hairs so ideal for applying cream/gel and it comes with a spolie!

Anastasia Brow Brush 12 £15 - Cultbeauty

Anastasia Clear Brow Gel
This is the best brow gel ever! If you have brows that like to do their own thing and never stay in place then this is a product for you. It is clear and sets your brow hairs in place all day so that they won't budge!

Anastasia Clear Brow Gel £16.50 - Cultbeauty

Anastasia Tweezers
Before you fill in your brows you need a nice clean shaped brow, to do this I like to use the Anastasia Beverly Hills tweezers, I got these in a set but they are sold individually. I was using Tweezerman tweezers before but I much prefer these as I find they are more precise and pluck out every hair!

The Perfect Spring/Summer Blushes

Today I thought I would share with you my favourite Spring/Summer appropriate blushes! Obviously these blushes are great for any time of the year, but they are especially perfect for summertime! I don't know about you but when I think of summer make-up I think bronze/peach/coral/peachypink, so if your into that kind'a thing I'm sure there's a blush in this post for you! ;)

Nars - 'Gina'
This isn't just one of my favourite S/S blushes, it's also one of my favourite Nars blushes and I would go as far as to say it may be my favourite straight up peach blush! Eeek that's a big deal for a peach blush addict like myself to say! I've done a post on it here with swatches and more details but to sum up it's a stunning mid-tone peach, not too bright, not too pale or too orange it's the perfect peach with a matte finish. The pigmentation is great and the texture is smooth and blendable.

Clinique - 'Peach Pop' & 'Ginger Pop'
I've recently done a review with swatches on these blushes (here) so I won't go into too much detail, they are both my newest additions to my blush collection but they made their way into this post as I have already got a lot of use out of them and I can see my self wearing them a lot this summer. Both blushes have good pigmentation and blend in beautifully, there is a very slight shimmer but it doesn't translate on the skin, the finish is more of a satin/sheen.  'peach pop' bright is a peach/pink shade and 'ginger pop' is a peach with a rose undertone.

Mac - 'Sunbasque'
The name for this one suits it perfectly as it is a beautiful bronzey-peach with a hint of red to it that just gives a gorgeous bronzed 'I've been out in the sun' look. It is a sheer tone shimmer finish, I wouldn't say it's particularly sheer, it does have shimmer but not to much in my opinion just enough to give you that glow.

Milani - 'Luminous'
One of Milani's most famous blushes and I can see why! It's a gorgeous peach with shimmer but again not too much shimmer, it provides a gorgeous glow and is just the right shade of peach. I would say Nars 'Gina' is my favourite matte peach blush and Milani 'Luminous' is my favourite peach blush with shimmer, it truly is beautiful. The texture is buttery and glides onto the cheek, it is a baked blush so similar to Mac Mineralise blushes but super affordable!

Tarte Amazonian Clay 12 Hour Blush - 'Tipsy'
This one is a beautiful coral, it is a 12 hour blush so it really long lasting which is perfect for hot weather. The pigmentation is great with very slight shimmer but doesn't really translate onto the skin. It's a great coral blush that's looks great with a tan. You can get Tarte on QVC if your in the UK, they don't have this shade on there at the moment but you can also get them from Sephora now they ship to the UK!

Mac - 'Peaches'
I think this may have to share top spot for my favourite matte peach blush! It's a sheertone finish, but the pigmentation is good and blends in beautifully. The perfect peach shade!

Mac - 'Peachykeen'
This one is a peachy rosy pink, again great pigmentation and texture. This shade is great with a tan and the shimmer running through it gives a gorgeous glow.

Benefit Watt's Up Highlighter | Review

I'm a lover of the dewy look and so highlighter is something I always use to achieve that 'glow'! When it comes to highlighters i have a fair amount in my collection, the most recent addiction is Benefit's Watt's Up. I first had a small mini size of this that I got free from Sephora but after trying that and falling in love, I had to get the full size!

Benefit Watt's Up is a cream highlighter that comes in stick form. Housed in such cute packaging, you have two lids on the product end which keeps the product from drying out and on the other end you have a sponge applicator. I haven't used the sponge applicator, while it's cute I would rather use my fingers or a brush to blend. The product itself is a gorgeous cream champagne, the shimmer in this is very fine which I like as its more of a beautiful glow than *disco ball*. You can apply it straight from the stick but I prefer to take some on my finger and tap it to blend on my cheekbones, eyebrow, inner corner of the eye, cupids bow… wherever you want to highlight! It blends in seamlessly and looks natural but also gives the perfect amount of glow! I'd say it pale to medium skin tones could use this and it would look perfect.

Overall I really love this highlighter, if your into the 'dewy look' but haven't tried it out I recommend checking it out!

Whats your favourite highlighter?

Maybelline Colour Sensational High Shine Lipgloss | Review

left - Cashmere Rose, right - Glorious Grapefruit

 'Glorious Grapefruit'
 'Cashmere Rose'

I recently picked up two Maybelline ColourSensational High Shine Lip Glosses whilst shopping in Boots. I picked up the shade 'Glorious Grapefruit' which is a peach shade and 'Cashmere Rose' which is a rose/pink shade with a bit of peach, both of these shades a pretty similar but there were some more pink shades and some nudes if thats more your thing!

When it comes to the Drugstore lip glosses, I am usually not impressed as they seem to consist of a gloopy, thick or sticky formula and I just haven't liked the ones I have tried from the drugstore, although the Revlon ones are pretty good! The Maybelline Colour Sensational lip glosses beat all of the other Drugstore lip glosses in my opinion, the formula is creamy and glides onto the lips, they feel very comfortable as they aren't thick or sticky. The finish is a high shine without lots of shimmer. If this formula was put in high end packaging I would be totally fooled into thinking it was high end as it really is good! The pigmentation of these glosses are fairly good, they have enough pigment to wear on their own as a natural wash of colour or paired over a lipstick.

Overall I'm so impressed with these lip glosses and if you haven't you need to check them out!

Contour & Highlight | Using Cream Products

Contour and Highlighting is one of my favourite parts of make-up as I have mentioned before on my blog. It's something I do on a everyday basis, usually just sweeping on a bit of bronzer as a contour and using a light concealer under my eyes. But for special occasion or if I feel like spending more time on my make-up, I do the whole contour and highlight routine using cream products then setting with powder which is the method I'm going to be showing you in this post. Contour and highlighting with cream products is great for photography so if your going on a nightout or a special event this would be perfect, as for everyday it is more time consuming than just applying a bit of bronzer as a contour so I think for most people its best for special events when you have more time to get ready. So why would you want to highlight and contour with cream products? Well for me I think its adds more depth than just using powder and I find it looks more obvious but in a natural way. I choose to set mine with powder to emphasise the contour and highlight even more and too set the cream products.

So for any newbies to highlighting and contouring, the basics is you want to contour (apply a darker product, 3-5 shades darker than your skin tone) to areas you want to push back and you want to highlight (apply a lighter product around 2-3 shades lighter than your skin tone) to bring that area forward and make it stand out. Highlight and contouring defines the face and can emphasises certain features or slim features. The places you can highlight are the chin, forehead, bridge of nose, under the eyes, tops of cheekbones, cupids bow, you can also highlight underneath where you contoured your cheekbones. Contour areas are under the chin, jawline, sides of nose, around the forehead and temples.

1. I start off by applying my foundation, (I used Make-up Forever HD foundation) you can either do this before or after highlight and contouring, I like to do it before. Then i apply my highlight under my eyes, centre of forehead, chin and bridge of nose. I used the Mac Prep and Prime Highlighter (light boost) as a highlight and I also used the Kevyn Aucoin Sensual Skin Enhancer (Review Here) under my eyes as it gives me more coverage. Both of these products are amazing!

2. Then I blend it in using a Beauty Blender or the Real Techniques Buffing Brush. You want to try and keep the highlight in the areas you applied it so use dabbing motions and to blend it in.

3. Then I applied my contour I used the Bobbi Brown Foundation Stick in shade 'Almond', I apply this under my cheekbones, from the top of the ear towards the corners of the mouth (if you find it hard to find your cheek bones, use a brush handle or your hands and run it down you cheeks, wherever you feel it goes in that is where you want to apply the contour) around my forehead, temples, sides of nose, under chin and jawline.

4. I blend it in using my Real Techniques Expert Face brush, again you want to keep your contour in the areas you applied it so dabbing motions and small bending motions to the areas you want to contour.

5. I like to then take a MAC 188 Brush and make sure everything is blended.

6. Then I set my contour with a bronzer, this emphasises the contour even more and helps it to last all day. I used a MAC 109 Brush and Benefit Hoola Bronzer.

7. You can also set your highlight with a powder that is a couple shades lighter but I didn't do that today.

Do you contour and highlight with cream products?

Clinique Cheek Pop Blushes | 'Ginger Pop' 'Peach Pop'

Clinique Cheek Pop
Clinique Cheek Pop Blush
'Peach Pop'
'Ginger Pop'
'Peach Pop' 'Ginger Pop'
Clinique Cheek Pop Blushes are a recent release from Clinique for Spring, Available in 4 gorgeous shades. I went for 'peach pop' - a bright peach/pink and Ginger pop' - a rosy peach shade. Both shades are gorgeous and perfect for spring. The packaging really caught my eye with the pretty floral pattern. The blushes themselves have a tiny amount of shimmer to them which doesn't really show up on the skin, I would say they have more of a sheen finish as they aren't shimmery but they aren't matte. The pigmentation is good and the texture is smooth and easy to blend.

Overall I'm really impressed with these blushes, I absolutely love the shades and the gorgeous packaging! If your into peach blushes I would recommend these shades, but if not I'm sure you will love the other two shades in the range as they are just as beautiful!

Kevyn Aucoin Sensual Skin Enhancer Review

The Kevyn Aucoin Sensual Skin Enhancer has been raved about a lot. It is a cream foundation that is super pigmented and can be used as a concealer as well, which is my preferred way to use it. Its available in 16 shades so i'm sure everyone can find there perfect shade. I got mine in the shade SX05 which is a little bit lighter than my skin tone as I planned on using it under my eyes and other areas I want to highlight/conceal. I expected it to be a lot dryer but it's actually really creamy, it is thick though and if you apply too much I can see this looking a bit cakey but when you apply the right amount it gives a lovely satin flawless finish. It comes in a very tiny pot but as its very pigmented you only need the tiniest amount. The longevity is great as well and I find it lasts all day on my skin, if you have oily skin I would recommend setting it with a powder though.

Overall I really like this product, I love using it for highlighting and concealing, the coverage is amazing and it isn't drying or heavy. If your looking for either a high coverage foundation that you can sheer out or build up, or if your looking for a high coverage concealer I really recommend it, I think its amazing and I can see why so many people rave about it.
